Orange Day
To solve this horrible problem happening in our society with gender stereotypes. We are thinking of educating kids about gender equality from a really early age. We believe that this will help our school to be gender free school and to stop the plague of gender stereotypes.
So we were thinking for a long time how to spread gender equality and we finally had the idea and it was the best idea ever to celebrate orange day it all started when I was looking what schools support gender equity and I found out that in Thailand international school they celebrate orange day. On that day everyone in the school wears orange and they have a giant parade around the school and then I thought if we also are an international school why can’t we celebrate orange day so I started doing research.
I found out that orange day idea started in the year 2012 on 25 of April the idea was created by the un secretary general Ban-Ki-Moon and was empowered by the members of the unite. A really interesting thing that I found out is that the idea about orange day was created in 2012 but it officially came out only on 2013 only because they were thinking what to do orange day about finally on April 25 the first celebration of orange day in New York took place and not a lot people came to celebration. Even after 2 years of orange day only less than 25% know about orange day!
We want to change this problem and to bring orange day to B.I.S. But we can’t do it without your help. You can support us by wearing orange on the 20 of May, and don’t panic you wont forget about it because in our school lobby you can see a orange day poster that will remind you about it. And remember a little change can cause massive chains of change.
